About us

Started with a U-Haul and a farm in western Massachusetts.

Full Belly Foods was founded in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic exposing deep inequities in food access. What began as Central MA Food Rescue is now a national distribution platform serving affordable housing portfolios across the country.

Our story

Formerly Central MA Food Rescue. Now national.

We started by rescuing and redistributing food across central Massachusetts. Over time it became clear that the hardest part of food insecurity in affordable housing wasn't supply — it was the last mile. Residents who couldn't drive, couldn't carry groceries, or couldn't get to a pantry during open hours were being missed entirely.

So we rebuilt the model around delivery. Today we source at wholesale, ship direct to properties, and let the on-site teams residents already trust hand the food out. That structure is why the program reaches 165+ communities in 21 states and DC.
