We report what we can count: pounds sourced, communities served, people reached. Here is where the program stands as of August 2026.
Our model is centralized sourcing plus regional delivery, which means a new market isn't limited by where we already operate. If a partner has properties in a state we've never served, we can build the supply chain for it.
Food insecurity in affordable housing is rarely a single problem. It's cost, distance and timing at once — and a referral solves none of them.
“They can't afford to buy fresh produce even when they want to.”
“Some residents physically cannot get to a food bank or grocery store.”
“Government support doesn't stretch far enough to cover the full month.”
One resident we serve remembers when fresh vegetables felt like a luxury she couldn't afford. Living on a fixed income, most of her budget went to rent and to medication for her diabetes. She relied heavily on canned and processed food from the pantry, which made managing her blood sugar steadily harder.
When Full Belly Foods began running markets at her community, she was among the first to come. Each month she now picks up crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, sweet peppers and seasonal fruit — food that has changed both her meals and her health, and that she tells our partners she looks forward to cooking again.
The growth is documented in our public filings. Here is the trajectory, with sources.
Started during the COVID-19 pandemic with a U-Haul and a farm in western Massachusetts, rescuing and redistributing food across central Massachusetts.
Still a local operation, running on a fraction of today's scale.
The model shifted from food rescue to direct-to-property delivery for affordable housing portfolios. 98% of expenses went to program; fundraising expense was zero.
Rebranded to Full Belly Foods and operating nationally.
Roughly 20,000 people receive fresh food every month, with new markets opening on request in states we haven't served before.
Demand keeps outrunning what housing budgets can carry. Philanthropic support is what lets us say yes.
